? Food bowl was tested with Fancy Feast Classic Kitten food diluted with water, Freeze-Dried Raw Nature's Variety Instinct kitten food, as well as some occasional properly prepared & organic raw kitten meals. Water bowl was tested with 8oz of water & some bone broth. My fluffy & adorable test assistant was a 5 month old kitten who eats 3-4 times a day.? Review was written after 35 days of consecutive use.---?? PROS: Food Bowl✅ Handles both commercial canned cat food & raw food pretty well.✅ Able to hold sufficient amounts of liquids.✅ Kitten has not experienced whisker stress/whisker fatigue.✅ Kitten is able to clean the plate fully during each meal.✅ Extremely easy to clean.✅ Heavy, high quality ceramic.✅ Shallow.---?? CONS: Food Bowl❌ May break if you are clumsy or if your cat/kitten enjoys kicking or playing with their bowls. In this case, a stainless steel shallow bowl would be a better option.---?? PROS: Water Bowl✅ Not too deep for a water bowl.✅ Hold sufficient amounts of liquid very well.✅ Easy to clean.✅ Has not accumulated any biofilm.✅ Heavy, high quality ceramic.---?? CONS: Water Bowl❌ May break if you are clumsy or if your cat/kitten enjoys kicking or playing with their bowls. In this case, a stainless steel shallow bowl or a shallow water fountain would be a better option.❌ Not as enticing to drink from as a water fountain.❌ May induce whisker fatigue/whisker stress in some cats, just like most water bowls do, since they are not all shallow in nature due to needing to be somewhat deep in order to be able to hold in plenty of liquid.my cat has long-standing digestive issues, and is also older now. i'd noticed she had started to eat in short bursts; brief nibbles and many passes instead of really staying at her bowl to eat properly. i am not certain if she has any arthritis or other specific conditions beyond age that might make her uncomfortable, but i wanted to give these elevated bowls a try just in case it would help her. after looking at many, i chose these because they were simple in design and less costly than others.they arrived fast and excellently packed. i was pleased by the good quality of the ceramic and the visual appeal. but the test was whether the cat would accept them, and if they might help her eat longer/more comfortably...she eyed them with grave suspicion when the freshly washed and filled bowls were set on her tray. she does not appreciate novelty. she seemed immune to their visual charms as well, and gave me a look that plainly suggested i had failed her yet again. subsequent looks implied that she had rather starve than go near something so obviously dangerous. i was prepared for this. i opened the packet of the favourite 'treat' food (rabbit in gravy) and placed it on top of her posh special diet wet food, and backed away as if nothing was further from my mind than staring at her whilst she ate, or didn't eat... she ate the rabbit and left her other food, and ran off as though the hounds of hell were after her. in the morning, it looked like most of the food was gone. HA! i opened a fresh serving and smugly placed in her bowl. she rejected it. i left it for a while, and then the next time i passed through the kitchen i anointed the rejected food with special treat #2, a geriatric cat supplement sauce. this did the trick, she relented and ate the food, and stopped looking at the tray like a komodo dragon might leap forth at any moment.by day three, i noticed that she did seem to be spending longer at the dish instead of doing little micro-meals. there has been no more nonsense about invisible lizards or what-not. hallelujah!i wish i'd discovered these ages ago, when it first became apparent that she hated her whiskers touching a normal bowl, and i had to switch to plates for her food. now both food and water are in non-impinging bowls, and honestly she seems happier. and they really do look smart on the tray, instead of the old random dishes designated as cat feeding ware. 5 stars from our household! Our Binxy boy gets both dry and wet food daily. He is quite the messy eater when it comes to wet food and he used to fling it up onto the wall when eating. I also noticed he would lick the food into the corners of regular bowls and then stop eating. I think that may have been related to not liking his whiskers touching the sides of regular/short bowls. Flat dishes help with the whiskers but he ends up flinging to food off of it and onto the wall. These bowls are the best of everything. Cute, easy to clean, raised, and perfectly large/not deep so they don’t bother his whiskers. They also have a little lip on the edge/top of each that prevents wet food from flying out :)I am a first time cat owner and did a LOT of research when purchasing items for my 1.5 year old rescue. I originally purchased raised bowls on Amazon but they still didn’t feel tall/wide and flat enough for my cat. My boy is a DLH/Persian mix (we think) and his face is pretty flat. He is a messy eater and I think it’s because he struggles to pick up food with his mouth. He even has a hard time biting treats out of our hand. I love how tall these bowls are and how wide they are to accommodate his face and whiskers. I make a mix of soaked kibble with dehydrated goat milk and wet food and the bowl has enough of a ledge to prevent wet food from spilling out but it’s shallow enough to allow him to eat with ease. I attached a photo of the food bowl (right) compared to what I had previously purchased for him on Amazon (left). I returned the first purchase and I’m sticking with these. So far these are the best bowls I’ve found and honestly I’ll probably order another set just to have back up! So happy I found these!A great buy! Love the hight for my big string kitty. I flipped the second piece to make it a drinking bowl! These are great for the cats especially the older one has arthritis. She doesn’t have to bend her entire body down to eat or drink. The only thing is there is no rubber at the bottom doesn’t have any rubber, so the bowls slip around some.Love these. Great height for our 30 pound dog. Great color, love the retro color. Very stable
