For the price, it's not bad. It's not made of very sturdy material, in fact, the front of the base (where the hole is) is seems to be cardboard maybe?? The first tree we received crushed this part almost immediately upon setting it up. It was cracked a bit when we received it, but the base quickly began to collapse under the weight of the rest of the tree (without a kitten using it yet). So, we got it replaced.... Also note that the carpeting is VERY thin, the 2nd tree we got actually had some fraying at the seams (because the carpet is so thin), we figured our kitten would in time fray it anyway, so that's ok. On the 2nd tree/condo, BEFORE we assembled it, we put 2x2 supports in each of the 4 corners of the base (this after we verified the replacement box was also cracking around the circle opening and we could see the same issue was about to arise). This fixed that problem. The rope wrapped around the poles is very secure, which is fantastic! We've had it about 3 weeks and have already had to tighten up the bolts once (our kitten weighs a whopping 3.2 pounds as of yesterday). If you're willing to make some adjustments, it's probably worth it. We loved the style of it, so we were willing to make it work. I'm rather certain before my kitten becomes a full grown cat, it will be completely worn out and useless. As I said, for the money, it's not a bad investment. Oh, one other thing, the hanging ball is over the center of the circular tube at the top, not attached to the top landing off to the side of the cylinder as pictured.I am currently in the application phase for my cat adoption. I figured I should have a cat tree present in my apartment when they inspect so that they know I'm committed to the cat. The breakdown is as follows:One star for quick shipping. I clicked on the free shipping option, which projected a 2-3 week shipping period. I was pleasantly surprised to find the package delivered after a 2 day wait. It delivered 2 days early!Another star is for, obviously, the price. It definitely isn't the nicest cat tree in existence, but it is great for the mere $28 I paid. The last star awarded is for the product itself. It is decent enough for what it is, and it is exactly how the picture depicts it. What you see is what you get.The reason it did not receive two more stars was because of the assembly. The screws were not long enough or sturdy enough to assemble as the picture indicates, particularly with the panel on the side underneath the tunnel.I ended up attaching the two scratching posts directly together and only having the base and the top rest area when assembled. It is sturdy and works well enough the way I have it assembled. I took the cloth off of the piece I wasn't using and stuffed it with a blanket to make a pillow, so I'll probably sew that to the very top to make a more comfortable bed for my cat. For the price, though, I really can't complain.I went with this cat tree since it was the most economically priced yet still had a nice high perch--which is my kitty's fav spot. I have a Norwegian Forest Cat, and she adores to climb up to the highest point in any room and look down on her "kingdom". She loves chilling out in the little cat cave as well. The "upholstery" is really soft. My cat loves all the scratching posts, she uses them frequently. She also has a ball (literally) batting at the dangling toy.I do wish it was taller. They make it look so much higher in the picture somehow. It's realistically about 3 feet high and I would have preferred 5 or 6 ft tower, but for the price, I can't really complain. It was easy to put together and feels fairly sturdy. I keep it in a corner (near a window so she can peer outside). At some point, I may have my my boyfriend attach it to the wall--it's not really necessary--but would just make me feel better. In the future. I may go for one of the taller cat towers, sit it beside this one to make a cool kitty play-land. But for the moment this one makes my kitty super happy. I'm satisfied with my purchase, and so is my kitty cat.Update: Still in great shape. Bought this in 2014, and now it's April 2020 and it's still going strong. My cat still uses the cat "cave" (absolutely loves it) and sharpens her claws on the scratching posts regularly instead of using my furniture (thankfully), and jumps up to the top shelf which holds her steady, this is great since she's a big 'ol girl (20-25 lbs). There are many configurations available for this product, and after reading some of the reviews and studying the structure, I settled on the Palamos model. I am really happy with it. Because it has two legs, it is more stable than some of the other models. It wobbles a little bit if I push on it, but not so much when the cat uses it with her light touch. She LOVES it. It took her a while to warm up to it, but she is a newly adopted and getting the lay of her territory. This has become her safe spot. She loves to sleep and play here. The scratching posts are excellent. I really am pleased with the quality of the materials used given the low cost. The carpeting on the tree is soft and a little fluffy. The box and ledges rotate around a little bit once its assembled, so you can adjust as needed. I'd definitely recommend.Stability not good very wobbly however it's very soft I bought one for my baby and my two grand kitty's one is actually a little shorter than the other the bases is wood but the poles are cardboard I pray it lasts well see I got a good price for both if the poles were wood they would have a customer in me for life and it needs a softer wrap its very rugged I pray it doesn't give my babies splinters so far so good could make the base wider for better Stability just some suggestionsI spent a long time looking for a replacement cat tree for my 2 indoor cats, this one seemed to fit the bill. However having put it together, fairly straightforward and easy to do, I am disappointed that it is so unstable. It sits along side a much larger, more expensive cat tree which the cats use more for sleeping than playing. This tree is intended for play and when they leap up onto it, the whole thing rocks and almost tips over. As one reviewer stated, all it needs is a larger more sturdy base. The top platform is also smaller than expected. I went for this make as they offer replacement scratch posts, the main part that wears out. Personally would not recommend it as a freestanding tree, it needs to be by a wall.I've changed my original review...Our kitten loved this post and sleeping in the hammock but we found it VERY unsteady so would not recommend! The string and ball came off within a month, which was to be expected, however our 5 month old kitten who weighs just over 2kg did a normal jump onto the post and it toppled over and broke completely!!! The sisal post snapped off breaking the plastic casing around where it screws! Our kitten got a scare, so this is unacceptable! This tree only lasted 3 months and we paid £30+ - it should be better made and sturdy for that money!!Didn't like the assembly, the sturdiness ain't that great but it hasn't fallen apart yet despite my cat being a wild maniac sometimes so that's good. He always sleeps on the middle portion never the bottom cave. The hanging ball came off as be pulled it off.I can't believe I'm unlucky enough to receive 2 poorly constructed examples of this product. We sent the first one back as the top of the base was collapsing and left feedback with the return. We received the replacement a week later. We received a product with exactly the same fault. Luckily I have managed to fix the base myself with 2 extra pieces of wood, as our kitten will probably be an adult by the time we get a decent product from this manufacturer. It assembles very easily if you can decipher which pole goes where as they’re not marked. My cat jumped on it for the first time and gave himself a fright as it wobbles. I don’t think the base is weighted enough or big enough to keep the frame steady So this means my cat doesn’t use it that much so for me it’s a waste of money. My cat is fully grown but not very big so thought this would of been perfect for him which sadly it isn’t.
