It inflates in about 5 seconds. The santa battery comes charged up. The remote requires 2 AA batteries (not included). The battery compartment on the remote is a little difficult to open. I had to use a flat head screwdriver to pry the latch while simultaneously lifting it. The joystick for forward and reverse on the remote I received did not work properly. I can only sometimes get it to move forward. There is also sometimes a lag between moving the joysticks to turn and the santa actually turning. Hopefully I just got a bad remote and yours works properly. The remote allows you to inflate and deflate the santa and change between 2 Christmas songs. The song plays continuously while the santa is inflated. There is no way to turn it off, but it’s not annoying. My small dog loves chasing and being chased by it. It moves pretty fast and is very stable, since it’s not top heavy. It moves from tile to carpet. It moves fast on smooth surfaces, but not so much on carpet. It spins around and never falls over. If you’re a prankster, you could also use it to startle guests when they approach. If you want to have some fun this holiday, you should get one of these.
