NOTE: Dated October 23, 2015: They finally changed the picture representing the tower!!! I have to admit my cat is in love with this & spends hours on it looking out the window & even enjoys sleeping & relaxing in BOTH the curved perches below during the afternoon nap time--on the living room window perch which is now pulled a bit away from the window because the heat is on. She has one in the bedroom that is permanently right up against the window & the living room one is pulled back from the window when heat needs to be turned on & lately I have found her each afternoon when I am home Friday thru Sunday relaxing & sleeping on the curved perches--she is slightly over 8 lbs & fits comfortably in the curved perches. On the bedroom one I added a carpet on top that seems to help, but there is room to sleep on top. I purchased two of these for my kitty's window perches. My review was from an earlier photo & purchase.I use this cat furniture in front of her favorite window. What I love about it is that it is window height, very sturdy & has lush carpeting--carpeting underneath the perches as well. I was however, DISAPPOINTED (grrr) because there is a substantial cutout indentation on the top shelf that is not perfectly clear in the photo--(the photo is very deceiving)--(I am adding this note dated March 27, 2015--the previous picture was deceiving but I NOW see a very clear honest picture today so I need to edit this review). This is done to enable the cat to climb easily from the middle perch to the top, but it is large enough (approx a full 7 inches!) to take away an area that would have allowed for full sleeping because the top perch is large without the cutout. With cutout it is smaller. Too bad. What I like about it is that the sides of the top perch are low enough for my kitty to comfortably overlap her paws. She demands this & wouldn't have it any other way. There is room for her to rest comfortably & watch outside the window. The top shelf does not allow for her to curl up and nap as she is used to on her other luxury cat trees with extra large perches. It is very sturdy & won't topple. Even though there is a cutout, I will purchase this again if necessary. I only hope the manufacturer would make the exact same model at window height without the top cutout because my cat enjoys sleeping in her cat trees with a 20 inch width and enjoys spending lounge time in front of the window. Hint hint manufacturer! (20" X 20" top perch would be a dream come true for my kitty and me. I'll be waiting.) I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 only for the photo deception.Note added November 6, 2012. In spite of the cut-out, I don't believe you will find a better window-height cat furniture. I have heat under the picture window, so I needed something away from the heat for the winter months, which I bought. I have this in my cart for next summer. All is very sturdy and wrapped in plush carpeting. All in all, it is worth it.Note Jan. 21, 2014: this past weekend I found my kitty napping on the top portion! There IS room for a medium sized cat to sleep in spite of the cut-out, but you won't find a better window perch. This is an ideal WINDOW perch.This triple platform lounger was immediately approved for use by our little troop of three.I loved the fact that it ships fully assembled. I'm tired of the cheap versions that require that you assemble the darn thing. This tree is very sturdy, and because it's made of plywood, quite heavy. Our big boned calico can jump up on it from a trot with no instability issues - yay! The two bottom levels are curved and offer privacy for each level. All of our kittren are fully grown and they can all fit on these lower levels. Admittedly, the big fluffy calico is a bit crowded in there. I'm surprised that the lowest level is so popular - but I can see that it offers the advantage of being a darker and more protected spot. The top is very generously sized. It could hold two cuddling kitties easily and more than adequately holds our 18 lb bruiser.It's the perfect height to allow viewing out the window from two different levels. The materials are all clean and it's very well assembled. There are a few loose strings and such that are easy to trim away. My girls all know exactly what to do with the sisal wrapped post, and broke it in right away.Over the last couple of decades I have bought many many different cat trees. This one is hands-down one of the better buys in recent years. It's made of solid materials, requires no assembly, and offers multiple snoozing spaces in a compact but stable package.I do have to admit that I am super picky, almost as much as my diva kitty, when it comes to pet supplies. This tree meets my expectations. It is solid and well made and Abigail started checking it out as soon as I pulled it out of the box. By the way, also loved that it was completely assembled! The carpet isn't as thick as ones I had bought previously from Dr. Foster and Smith, but those ones are double the price too. Also it is the perfect window height for my fur baby to watch the birds at our many birdhouses in our backyard. A total winner here. I ordered another one with a little different configuration that is coming tomorrow for our living room. Yes, it looks that nice. Yea!!! She is scratching the carpet on the posts!!!! Up til now, it has been our carpet or the furniture. She let me know she was not going to scratch cardboard or even sisel so this is perfect. Love it and worth every penny! OMG! I just looked at her and she is on one of the cradles. How cute is that?!UPDATE: I had to come back and change my review. Initially I had given this 5 stars but it is 8-31-15 now and the posts are falling apart with only one little kitty that doesn't scratch nearly as powerful as other cats we have had. Never have we had one fall apart like this! Never. I contacted the company and heard back from Robert right away, at first but now nothing. Very disappointed in this tree and would definitely not recommend it. Go to Drs Foster and smith and get a better one that lasts for years.UPDATE: 9-2 I heard back from Robert again and they are sending me a replacement tree so I was happy with that. Hopefully the new one will wear better than this last one. Just in the week or so since I have written to the company, there are more holes in the carpet and exposed wood. I did up the stars to 3 since the customer service is good.
